Could someone give the best sequence of videos to watch if starting as an absolute beginner and progressing through the curriculum.
Hey Brett. As someone new to the channel and curriculum. I would start getting a basic understanding of all the single strikes in tutorials. Followed by combinations in tutorial to get a solid foundation of the basics.
From there I would move to lesson/episode 1 (home or bag) in boxing, followed by kick, knees, combo. Then go to lesson 2 in each. Im usually slowly building the experience level the higher the lesson number.
Once you get a great understanding of all of the strikes and combinations, you can start focusing on the Fight concepts sections in each, as well as the sparring drills and more advanced tutorials!
I also recommend watching both Home and Bag Workouts just to learn more of the language and curriculum. Even if you don’t have a bag at home.
Hope this helps out!
Joe,
Thats a great roadmap that I'm going to adopt but can you comment on the training drills, for example should we practice the jab for 30 minutes or an hour for X sessions before moving ontop episode 2, or should we incorporate X minutes of previous lessons plus new lesson. I'm curious how to integrate the training into a routine for example breaking up by 3 days per week how to effectively keep fresh on each single strike without over or under training a technique. In one lesson you mentioned to do 100 switch kicks per day for example so I'd be curious how much to do of others?
Hey Ryan!
Great question, but a difficult one to answer without seeing your technique. Experience, Skill and level of athleticism differers greatly between everyone. Also some have better kicks and need more work on their boxing. or even time commitment to the training!
I would do the episode, and if you feel great with the technique/concept move on. If you are still feeling off, head over to the tutorials and focus on the strike that you're having difficulty with, then do the lesson again and see if it improves.
I also think it's important to revist the same episodes every so often. When ur learning you miss a lot of details that you will pick up a second time with more IQ and competence.
Last tip, would be focus on units. Maybe weekly, bi weekly or even monthly focus and improve one aspect (kicks or punch or knee etc) rather than jumping all around. Like traditional schooling learning blocks helps with retention!
Hope this help!
